There are six different species of black cockatoo in Australia - and this work is based on the Red-Tailed Black Cockatoo. Living up to 50 years or more, they take their time with life, slowly reproducing when they feel like it and always showing off for their partners - as ‘Blacky’ is doing in this piece, hanging around and showing off!
